Thirsty Sword Lesbians

Thirsty Sword Lesbians is a romance-first, swashbuckling tabletop RPG where you flirt, cross blades, and save the day with style. Scenes move quickly, featuring witty banter, daring stunts, and dramatic confessions. Players create queer heroes, found families, and charming rivals. The tone is joyful and sincere, with safety tools to ensure comfort and consent are prioritised. Feelings matter as much as feats, so every choice can spark character growth and memorable moments at the table.

It’s suitable for both first-time players and veterans. Perfect for birthdays, couples' nights, and friendly team sessions. A professional Game Master teaches the rules in minutes, keeps the action flowing, and adjusts the romance from cute sparks to rivals to lovers. It runs smoothly in person or online for 2 to 5 players. See available Game Masters.

How to play Thirsty Sword Lesbians

The core mechanic is straightforward. When your action triggers a move, you roll two six-sided dice and add a character stat. High totals indicate a clean success, middling rolls result in success with a twist, and low results lead to complications. On your turn, you describe what you do, how you feel, and your flair. The Game Master responds with vivid scenes, meaningful consequences, and questions that encourage you to embrace romance, courage, or compassion.

You bring a character idea, personal boundaries, and a taste for swashbuckling drama. The professional Game Master provides playbooks, quick rules, safety tools, and an adventure that suits your tone, from cosy to high action. For online tables, they set up the virtual tabletop and video. If you want to explore tech options, browse online play platforms.

In a one-shot, you dive straight into the action, define quick relationships, and race towards a significant moment such as a duel, a daring rescue, or a heartfelt confession. In a campaign, bonds deepen over several sessions. Rivals return, feelings evolve, and personal arcs unfold at your pace. The rules remain light either way, allowing the table to focus on story, chemistry, and bold choices.

Common questions

How does TSL differ from D&D?

TSL prioritises relationships and drama. You won’t be tracking squares or optimising damage. Scenes resolve with straightforward moves and 2d6, ensuring the story flows smoothly. Characters originate from playbooks with inherent bonds, rather than extensive feat trees. Conflicts are cinematic and concise, and dialogue can influence the outcome just as much as a weapon. Progression celebrates emotional development and tough decisions, rather than treasure. If you enjoy witty exchanges, intense emotions, and stylish heroics, this game is for you.

Do we need to identify as LGBTQ+ to play?

You don’t need to identify as LGBTQ+ to enjoy TSL. The game focuses on queer heroes and themes, and it welcomes anyone who wishes to play respectfully. You can portray queer characters, questioning individuals, or supportive allies. At the table, everyone’s comfort is important. The professional Game Master sets expectations, checks boundaries, and maintains an inclusive tone. Strong emotions are celebrated, and harmful stereotypes are not tolerated. Come prepared to uplift one another and share brave, kind stories.

How do romance and consent function in play?

Romance is always optional. Before play, the professional Game Master conducts a quick consent discussion to establish lines, veils, and comfort signals. You select the romance dial, ranging from sweet sparks to slow-burn yearning. During scenes, you only participate as much as you feel comfortable. Fade-to-black and pause tools are always at your disposal. You can redirect a scene at any moment, no questions asked. The GM monitors for safety and checks in regularly, ensuring the table remains enjoyable and respectful.

Can we book it for two players or a pair?

Yes, TSL shines with two players and a professional Game Master. The GM frames tight scenes, introduces vivid NPCs, and balances the spotlight so both of you have meaningful moments. Rivals-to-lovers, bodyguard and royal, or best friends on the brink of something more all work beautifully. Sessions last 120 to 180 minutes and feel complete without feeling rushed. To find a GM who enjoys duo play, browse available Game Masters and mention that you are booking for two.

What settings or genres suit this game?

The rules are quite flexible. You can swashbuckle in crystal kingdoms, rebel across starlit space, sneak through coastal courts, attend a magical academy, or fence in neon-lit alleys. Swords can be made of steel, light, or attitude. The professional Game Master will suggest a few options and adjust the tone to suit your group. If you need assistance in choosing a vibe, compare GM playstyles to see who leans towards fairy romance, pirates, sci-fi, or cosy drama.

Is there much fighting, or can we steer clear of it?

Duels are part of the vibe, but violence is never necessary. Conflicts can hinge on empathy, courage, or clever words. You can opt for non-lethal stakes, aim to disarm, or win someone over during the fight. When blades cross, resolution is swift and the story progresses, rather than becoming tactical. If your group prefers to avoid combat entirely, the GM can focus on rescues, rivalries, mysteries, and heartfelt moments instead. Your boundaries dictate how intense or gentle the action feels at the table.

Is it appropriate for teenagers or mixed-age groups?

TSL can be quite family-friendly when adjusted accordingly. For teenagers and older children, the GM ensures that romance remains sweet and suitable for their age, using clear consent tools and avoiding explicit content. Adults at the same table can appreciate deeper themes of friendship, bravery, and found family. For older groups, the tone can shift to be more dramatic while still being respectful. Communicate your boundaries to the GM when booking, and they will tailor scenes to ensure everyone has an enjoyable experience.

What players have to say

  • Tom was brilliant! He was really great with the kids and very patient with his explanations. It was a wonderful evening and definitely worth doing again! The children asked the next day when we would be doing this again.

    Danny

  • First of all, I want to say that Sebastian was really great as a DM. For his first run as a booked DM, he did an excellent job. The 3 stars refer to the following: 1. We were disappointed that the adventure was labelled a One Shot yet wasn't a complete story. Discovering that there are two more parts wasn't very positive for us, as it meant there was no satisfying conclusion to the story. 2. As new players, it was difficult for us to understand the English character sheets in such a short time. In German, it would have been much easier. Even receiving the character sheets a few days in advance would have been helpful for preparation. 3. More guidance would be beneficial. Especially for beginners, a more linear one shot would have been preferable. We wasted a significant portion of the adventure time doing unnecessary things because we didn't fully understand how the game worked. Overall, I think the StoryForgers concept is really good and I see a lot of potential in it, especially for introducing new players to D&D. I hope you don't take my feedback the wrong way but see it as honest criticism. Best regards, Mario

  • Bryan was exceptional. We had a group with varying levels of experience, and he managed to keep everyone engaged and involved. His positive attitude made the game enjoyable for all. I really appreciated how he could clearly explain what was needed from our less experienced players while keeping our more seasoned players on their toes with his deep knowledge of the game. Everyone in our party had a fantastic time thanks to Bryan.

    Jeremy

  • Dayron was fantastic. Well-prepared, punctual, and had a brilliant sense of humour.

    Corey

  • Dayron was fantastic; he provided a brilliant experience. Thanks!

    The Merry Meeple

  • The game was really engaging. I got a game as a present for my boyfriend, who is very keen on it, and he was very pleased and appreciated Leonardo's professionalism. I don't have much experience with DnD, but I found the game to be quite straightforward and enjoyable.

    Marina

  • Baptiste was an excellent GM who adapted well to our group and helped us progress in this one-shot. However, there was one issue with the character sheets provided, as they were not complete or clear. Some of the French translations were rather approximate. For instance, our cleric was missing spells, including a healing spell, even though they were meant to have some.

    Pierre

  • Rachel was fantastic; my daughter and her friends left the game saying it was the most fun they’d ever had, and my daughter wanted to sign up for another session with her straight away. She was friendly, and her approach let the players fully immerse themselves in the game by giving them control over how they wanted their actions to unfold. I would definitely work with her again.

    John

  • A nice and clear first experience with D&D. Amber was able to explain and guide the game effectively, allowing us as players to quickly get into the flow and focus on the story. Collaborating with my colleagues to devise attack routes was an enjoyable activity and provided great insights into each other's characters, thought processes, and differences. Overall, I found it to be a very enjoyable session.
